Lumen is a playful nod to the classic banker’s lamp, first patented in 1909, now completely reimagined for the home. It keeps the familiar silhouette and signature green shade but replaces the traditional brass and metal details with a bold, all-glass design.
Lumen highlights the iconic green glass of the banker’s lamp as the core of a new design, exploring how this familiar element can be reinterpreted into something distinctive while still connected to its original inspiration. The result is a fresh take that honors the original while adding a playful twist, perfect for bringing character and style into any living space.
Formed with Purpose.
The lamp is made from two separate glass pieces, the base and the shade, which can be produced in the same factory and joined seamlessly to create a clean and unified appearance. Inside the base, the light socket can be securely installed in a way that accommodates a range of standard socket types, making the lamp easy to assemble and versatile in different settings. The gently hollowed top allows users to reach the bulb with ease, so they can replace it or choose a different light source to adjust the light to suit their space.

This Lumen prototype was 3D printed at full scale and fitted with a standard E14 socket. Testing revealed how the light softly diffuses through the body, while the top of the lamp stays darker and richer in color, creating the same striking contrast seen in the renders and giving the lamp a strong visual presence.

While the classic green is always a favorite, Lumen can take on a whole range of colors, each giving the lamp a different mood, from minimal and calm to bold and expressive. No matter the shade, the iconic shape stays the same. It’s a lamp that adapts to different spaces, moods, and moments, making it more than just a light, but a subtle expression of style.
